A Co Sleeping Policy is to be launched in May (to prevent sudden infant death) User friendly leaflets etc will be produced but the attached can be circulated and it may be useful for any VCS groups who work with younger children and families. Co Sleeping Policy
Remind everyone of the availability of the online learning safeguarding training - have VCS groups used this and is there any feedback as if agencies do not use it will be decommissioned.
Safeguarding cards have been produced and will be circulated which contact flow charts and key phone numbers to advise on action if anyone has safeguarding concern. Novemebr 2008

Safeguarding and Interfaith Groups - safeguarding protocols are currently being drafted which will then be put forward to the interfaith council for ratification - need to ensure that local protocols are consistent with any already in place nationally.
Thresholds - discussion around difficulties experienced by some VCS groups around referring safeguarding concerns through to the Initial Response Team. Also difficulties in just being able to explore concerns with duty worker prior to making a decision to refer. Viv Hobman Head of Care Services following a recent meeting with social work staff said that she was encouraging greater dialogue between referring agencies and duty workers which will hopefully address the concerns expressed.
Safeguarding training - People failing to attend safeguarding training when they have an allocated place will now be charged £50 if they fail to cancel in advance. The confirmation of place notifications will clearly state this information.
Communication and publicity sub group - agreement that it would be appropriate to have a VCS rep on group.
