Contact Point Updates
ContactPoint Goes Live
On the 18th May 2009, the roll out of ContactPoint began with the system being made available to the 18 Early Adopter Authorities in the North West to start the deployment to approx. 800 practitioners. Since this date, other Local Authority ContactPoint team members have undertaken training to enable them to support data and administrative duties. The Calderdale ContactPoint team will have completed their training by the end of August and the system will then be made available to the Authority to start the phased roll out for partners.
It is anticipated that the first practitioners in Calderdale will be trained in late 2009/early 2010.
ContactPoint Advertorials
A number of advertorials have been placed in professional journals and regional newspapers featuring ContactPoint. One advertorial featured in the Sheffield Star on the 3rd August 2009. Copies of these are available if requested.
Access to ContactPoint and Organisational Accreditation
As many of you will be aware, an Organisational Accreditation process will need to be completed prior to any organisation either supplying data to ContactPoint or users accessing the system. The Organisational Accreditation profile varies depending on the levels of access to the system that each organisation requires. We have already issued Statements of Requirements that will assist with this process, we hope these will have triggered organisations to consider the criteria they will need to meet. These Statements of Requirements are supplementary to the documents issued by the DCSF.
The first step in the Organisational Accreditation process for all organisations is to sign a mandate letter (copy available below). If you feel that your organisation are fully knowledgeable on ContactPoint and would like to send us a signed copy to start this process off, please complete and return to the address below. However, the project team will be contacting each organisation to arrange a meeting to initiate the Organisational Accreditation process. At the meeting we will supply each organisation with a check list tool to assist with the process.

Data Extracts
We are keen to continue work with all organisations who will be supplying data to ContactPoint. A copy of the CMBC ContactPoint Data Quality Improvement document was sent to all known data suppliers earlier this year. This document helps to outline aspects of data quality that need to be considered prior to connection to ContactPoint. If you have not received this document and would like a copy, please contact Fern Barnett on 01422 392647 or fern.barnett@calderdale.gov.uk.
Yorkshire & Humberside Independent Schools Event
This Event was run on the 30th June 2009 and was well attended by Independent Schools across the region. Presentations were given to increase ContactPoint awareness and highlight the requirements for Independent Schools as a result of the regulations. Feedback from the event was very positive and as a result a similar event will be run in November. All Independent Schools that did not attend will be invited and those Independent Schools that did attend will have an opportunity to allow others to attend who would benefit.

A fact sheet covering the electronic enablement of CAF, eCAF, is now available from the Department of Children, Schools and Families.
Also available is the Power Point presentation that Paul Caladine, Senior Projects Officer in CYPS, CMBC, gave on the 14th October. The presentation looks at where are we now, how did we get there and how do we make progress?
Contact Point will be the quick way to find out who else is working with the same child or young person, making it easier to deliver more coordinated support. Contact Point will be rolled out in Calderdale beginning in May 2009.
