About the Calderdale Community Forum
Voluntary Action Calderdale (VAC) and Calderdale
Community Forum (CCF) - The Future
Soo Nevison (Chief OfficerVAC) has written a summary of the Community Forum's progress to date, detailing where the future of the organisation is leading.
What's already happened…
- Funding has been secured for CCF to employ its own part time Co-ordinator (25 hours per week). Calderdale Council have provided some funding towards the organisation with further funds pledged from HBoS.
-
CCF have also adopted a constitution and are working towards an AGM in early July, where new members will be elected to the Management Group and officers elected.
What the future holds…
- The CCF hopes to be tenanted at the Resource Centre, enabling both organisations to continue to work closely together for the future benefit of the VCS as whole.
- The post for the CCF will be advertised in the near future so keep a look out for the advert if you are interested in becoming the Co-ordinator for the CCF.
So who will be doing what?
The clear separation of the CCF from VAC will enable the VCS to be supported more comprehensively as there will be two bodies - with two different agendas - working closely together for you, the VCS.
- VAC will continue to work as it always has by providing capacity building activities for VCS such as training, one-to-one support, volunteer bureau, general and specific (eg funding) advice, resource library, newsletter, on-line resources
- CCF will be dedicated to providing a voice for the VCS. It will be concerned with the representation and influence of the VCS within the Borough, especially around the LAA and the Calderdale Futures plan. They will continue to represent the VCS on the Local Strategic Partnership, Calderdale Forward, and ensure that Calderdale's voice is taken to the appropriate agendas by the appropriate agency outside of Calderdale.
We all understand that it is very new for everyone involved so don't worry. Both VAC and CCF are planning to be patient whilst everyone gets used to the new way of working. We hope that by providing a clear description of the differences between the activities of VAC and CCF, we will avoid confusion, duplication and competition for resources in the longer term.
